Madryn

The city of Madryn sits at the junction of the Ran Gilde and Ran Ael, and is the last fortified city held by Manöel on the Ir Fadha. The city, in better days, was the crossover point for river boats to swap their cargo to overland caravans for the remainder of the journey to Erdevan. Today it serves as little more than a fortified camp, as the king tries desperately to retain what little hold he has on the Ir Fadha. The city has many bridges crossing over the two rivers, although most of them are fallen into ruin and disrepair. Only the King’s Bridge is actively maintained, as this is the main artery for troops and supplies coming up from Erdevan.

On 10/3 2 Salaun, the city of Madryn was attacked by a war band, composed largely of orcs and goblins. Wihomarc’s Tower was nearly overrun, and the standard of the city was cut from the tower. Shortly after capturing the banner, the war band retreated. In addition to the dozen defenders killed in the battle, six other defenders went missing, and were presumed captured.

A party was sent north from Madryn shortly after the attack, in an attempt to rescue to prisoners and, if possible, return the standard to the city. The prisoners were eventually tracked to the old ruined fortress of Ui Brega, where they were rescued and returned to Madryn. It turns out that the human defenders were not actually captured, but deserted during the attack. One of the deserters escaped during the return to Madryn.
